Brandon Eric Gilliland

Brandon E. Gilliland is the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the University of Miami (UM). Nationally ranked by U.S. News and World Report among the top 50 universities in the country, UM's annual operating budget is in excess of $3.3 billion with an endowment of over $1 billion and research expenditures in excess of $320M. The University of Miami employs over 15,600 faculty and staff and serves over 17,000 students in over 11 million square feet of classroom, medical, and office facilities in Florida. Brandon provides leadership, oversight, and stewardship for all aspects of the University's financial resources. The university offices of the Treasurer, Controller, Budget and Planning, Business Services, and Supply Chain Services directly reports to the CFO.

Brandon has more than 20 years of senior financial leadership experience in various institutional settings. Before joining the University of Miami, he was the Vice President for Finance at Wake Forest University, where he served in financial leadership roles for more than a decade. At Wake Forest, he provided oversight for the controller's office, treasury management, financial operations, procurement services, risk management, finance systems, campus business services.

Brandon has been actively engaged at the national, regional, state, and conference levels. He was a member of the Research Universities Council and the Accounting Principles Council for the National Association of College and University Business Officers; chaired the Research and Doctoral Committee for the Southern Association of College and University Business Officers; member of the North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities Chief Financial Officers; and led the Atlantic Coast Conference inaugural Enterprise Risk Management Summit.

He holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Tulsa, and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Northeastern State University. He and his wife, Laura, have three teenage children, Cara, Holly, and Alex.
